Our Heart
An olive branch has long been a symbol of peace, deriving from the olive leaf which a dove carried back to Noah to mark the end of the universal flood (Genesis 8:11). We call our congregation The Olive Branch because it represents the restored relationship human beings can have with their Creator through Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17; Romans 10:9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6). The olive branch metaphor extends also to our relationships with other people, symbolizing the peace and restoration we can have with other human beings through Jesus Christ, regardless of race or status (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:28; Ephesians 2:14).
